Healthcare

When you’re sick, you should be able to see a doctor.

Healthcare costs are crushing family budgets. Even people with insurance are struggling with rising premiums, deductibles, copays, and prescription costs. Too many Connecticut residents delay care, skip medications, or worry about what will happen if they get sick because they simply cannot afford the cost. When people cannot access preventive care, small problems become major health issues.

Families are facing growing medical debt, employers are struggling with rising insurance costs, and small businesses, municipalities, and schools are dealing with increasing pressure from the cost of providing health insurance. Ultimately, our healthcare system has become more expensive for everyone.

We can do better. I will work to ensure that our communities have access to the healthcare resources, providers, and services they need while reducing the costs that families, businesses, and taxpayers face.

No one should have to choose between their health and their finances. Solving this challenge will require patients, providers, employers, advocates, and policymakers to work together to find practical solutions that improve access while reducing costs. We need a healthcare system that:

  • Lowers healthcare costs for patients, families, employers, and taxpayers

  • Ensures everyone in our state has access to preventive and primary care

  • Increases transparency so patients understand costs before receiving care

  • Ensures medical decisions are made by patients and their doctors, not insurance companies

  • Supports hospitals, healthcare workers, and local healthcare providers so residents can access care when they need it

Because when you’re sick, you should be able to see a doctor.
